Rugged Research began with a dream of a Wild Classroom.
In 2020, two Colorado Park Rangers set out to reimagine how kids learn about nature. They saw the need for an approach that combined the education standards of science education, the playful freedom of forest schools, and the rugged adventure of summer camp.

Drawing on their experience as science teachers, rangers, and nature tour guides, they built a nature-based education program designed to spark wonder and connection with the natural world.

What started as a dream in Colorado has since grown into branches across the U.S.—each founded by passionate educators inspired by that original vision.

Today, Rugged Research offers summer camps, homeschool enrichment, early childhood programs, field trips, afterschool programs, daycare visits, and more—all designed to get the next generation of explorers outside, learning through play.
